Ahhh summer! PDF Print E-mail

I think summer weather is finally here. It has been a long time coming this year. Or maybe it is just that lack of patience.

Well, I have found my true calling. Yep. If I didn't own a lodge I would be a mason. I have spent days and days gathering rock and making gardens and things. I absolutely love it! This passion is so insane, I want to build a castle... and I think I can. Does that sound normal to you? I think not.

The only thing is I don't have any machinery so I have been hauling rock by hand. Being a pretty small person this has proven to be difficult. I do have Popeye arms now. I am the resident arm wrestling champ!

So, I have been gardening, building things with rock, I did some staining and I am the cook everyday of my life. So picture this......I go into town this week for supplies and I may have put on some pretty clothes and make-up but I had dirt embedded under my fingernails from gardening, scratches and a black fingernail from the rocks, I smell like food and black flies are out so I have several bites all over me. Scary hill-billy girl.

Our down time for this playing of mine is over so I will have to create inbetween guests. Unless, let me think...anyone want to help me with that castle?

Take care, enjoy life and keep creating beautiful things!

Is It Spring Yet? PDF Print E-mail

Well, well, it certainly has been a good winter for snowmobileing. Unlike last year we actually got snow.

As usual we would like to thank our returning guests and all the new ones that visited this winter. It is good people that make the long northern winters do-able.

I must say I am looking forward to bright sunny days and warm weather. I thought about getting my canoe out this week because I am a little anxious, but no one would help me chip the foot and a half of ice out of the bay. Patience is not one of my virtues.

I don't know about you but  warm summer days and starry nights is about as good as it gets for me.

So lets all welcome in spring with happy attitudes, warm hearts and gentle souls.

One last thing to say about winter....See ya!!

Take care and enjoy life.

Jody

Hi everyone. I have had a few comments that I have not updated my blog lately. I do apologize I have been busy but that is no excuse.
Winter is coming and it's going to be a good one! Lets hope snow!
A few new things to let you know about. Our new website should be up and running in a week or so. It is more informative with less nonsense. It will have a trail conditions report each day for snowmobiling. It will report events such as retreats we will be holding and our new outfitting gear etc. I think you will like it.
We hope to see you all out snowmobiling and cross country skiing this year. Enjoy it,
this is Canada it's what we're all about..yee-ha!
I have to run (well walk very fast) so talk to you soon.

Take Care
Jody

What's new for fall and Winter

Summer is coming to an end shortly and we are getting ready for fall and winter activities.
ATVing is always great at the lodge with tons of trails and adventures. If you are not an ATV'er there are beautiful trails for nature walks and mountain biking. Canoeing and Kayaking is great in the fall, no bugs and beautiful scenery.
For winter remember we have groomed cross country ski trails and there is nothing more amazing than skiing out to the middle of a back lake in the wilderness and just stand there for awhile.
I think people need to have a little more adventure in them so I would like to introduce this year winter camping! Back lake wilderness stuff where we supply tent, accessaries and even the food for you to cook, set you up there, leave you there and see if you have it in you!
If you have any questions or comments please call the lodge or email us anytime.
I checked off a few things on my list of stuff to do this summer. I Kayaked the Wahnapitae river with my brother which apparently no one has done in about ten years. I went canoeing with some great guys who build their own cedar canoes! I went surfing behind a boat on the base of a wind surfer. I even water skiied on old wooden ski's behind a fishing boat with a 9.9 motor. Now that is some talent!!
I spent time this summer with good friends and down to earth good people and that is what it is all about.
I have had a great summer.

Take care.

It's July !

Summer is in full swing here at the lodge. It is great to see our guests from last year returning.
Canoeing is big this year and we have had some great groups come through.
Bass are biting this year big time and wildlife is everywhere including the bugs!
You don't have to ATV or fish or do anything some guests are coming to just relax and lay on the beach and be fed. Sounds good to me. That's my kind of vacation. Feed me and don't make me do anything and I'm good!
Well, if you are coming to the lodge this summer, I will see you then. If not you really should.

Take care.

Well the trails are all closing and the lake stakes are down, it must mean it's spring!
We had about two weeks of good sledding this year. What a crazy winter. Just a fluke, don't sell your sleds yet next winter will be better.
ATV season will begin soon and by the looks of it a little early this year. Spring fever I think.
We are looking forward to all our guests from last year coming back and I would like to welcome all the new ones we have booked in.
We also have some off road bikes coming in and some mountain bikers. I am glad the word got out that this place is great for any off road toys. Welcome all!
We do ask that proper safety gear be worn for any off road playing and please respect protected land and waterways.
Take care of yourselves and if you have any questions about the lodge please do not hesitate to drop us a line.

It's Been A Year!!

Wow! A year sure goes by fast.
George, myself, our kids (Cortlin and Luke) had a lot of adjusting to do moving up north and running a business. It's a long way from Wainfleet. I think we are all settled in now and have most things figured out. I also figured out I worked 5,096 hours this year! Are you kidding me? I must love the place or something.
We were very lucky our first year at the lodge. We had a lot of business and ninety nine percent of it all good. We met some fabulous people from all over the world and some from just around the corner. Guests, businesses, everyone was willing to help and make us welcome.
We can't thank our guests enough, I know I have said this before but we really get some great people here. It must be the wilderness.
Everytime someone new walks through our door we wonder if they will like the place and us. Then after they leave some send us thank you notes telling us what a great time they had. You don't know how good it is to see those, knowing that well, maybe we're going to make it.
I wonder if "tent boy" will ever forget his tent again or if the McAllister group is still riding snow machines and partying yet another year younger. I wonder if in ten years the Morin Family will have another reunion which I must tell you about 110 of them and the closest, warmest, loving family I have had the pleasure of meeting. I wonder if all the guys I had to take care of and feed and tell them to be careful out there because their wives were not here to remind them. (Wives, know I run a tight ship and they get away with nothing). I wonder when they got home did they thank God they didn't have me as a wife?
We are going to be into snow season soon and I hope it will go as well as last year. I hope to see guests back again and new guests come to visit. I think I better hope for snow, or we will be living out here in the boonies by ourselves!
Again, thank you all, and cheers to our first year.

Summers End

It is labour day weekend which means summer is slowly fading away. It went way too fast!
We had a great summer season with some exciting times such as the Rally Connex Adventure Ride. What a great bunch of people. We hope to have the ride held here for many years. Thank you to all who were involved for a great time and the opportunity to meet some truely good people.
Of course we had our ATV'rs such as Kevin Frieburgers group who gave us some really cool shirts and were always on time for meals. (I get a little not so happy when people are late for meals.) Nice respectful boys!
All in all, a good summer. I will miss it as I miss some of the guests who pass through our doors, knowing it will come again...hopefully so will they.
See you in Fall
